)                milla jarko                (                d.o.b. 1990 lahti, finland                )                contemporary circus’ performer                /                maker of performances                (                contact: millajarko@outlook.com

milla jarko is a maker of performances, a circus artist and a producer                in their work they fuse together performance art, circus, sound and visual stuff                circus paves the way for milla’s artistic endeavors and is an excellent platform for non-normativity                in their longitudinal work with performing arts they beg the question: what does circus do?                what does circus think?

jarko’s artworks have been described as benignly arrogant, interfering, accessibly weird, painfully honest—inimitable entities of performing arts which do not seek to please

their works have been seen at helsinki city theatre—stage for contemporary performance, WHS theater union, cirko—center for new circus, tehdas and barker theater and festivals like helsinki festival, silence, and kehä among many others                jarko and their latest solo project tiikeri were awarded with circus feats prize in 2023:                “…by expanding beyond the stage, aims to break the notion of circus and performance and to bring transparency and sensitivity to circus art
