               on tour                more information

the girl who ate dead birds is a cross-disciplinary solo performance by milla jarko                it's a profusely visceral  ring monologue that  places itself on the fringes of circus and theatre               the performance investigates the concept of one’s own room and the absence of another human                the almighty performer, the strongest powergirlwoman in the world, is capable of anything in her own world                will she dare to wander outside of it?                if your own room is too big, can you fit another person in there?                what if your room becomes your cage?

for i desire to get on stage to experience feelings ”
the creative process has examined the points of fusion and diffusion between the performer and the director, theatre and circus, myself and the other, subject and object, inner worlds and outside worlds                the performance features music composed and written by milla jarko

the girl who ate dead birds is a flying extravaganza of joy amidst sorrow                it is a magnificent child’s play, a fine show of skill, a shedding of feathers and a great casting off of the winter coat                teaser                trailer

“the contemporary circus performer specialized in ring trapeze makes one forget all genre pigeonholes...                the girl who ate dead birds is a captivating performance                simultaneously sweet and painful... järvinen is truly a prodigy in contemporary circus, why not in performing arts universally                she is a mesmerizingly dedicated stage personality full of charisma…”

the girl who ate dead birds is beautiful, ugly, brave, intimate and thrilling                it agitates but doesn't make a spectacle of itself                it's one of the most awesome performances that i have seen in a while”

“the performance insightfully observes shame, how hard it is to come out as oneself and take one's place in relationships with other humans”

“…the art of trapeze, those fierce, excitingly dangerous acrobatic tricks, had shifted in the background like a coulisse...                the overall touch in all its inexplicability exuded in every moment an interestingly original, rare, sensitized grand illusion that varied the parameters of the international french circus genre”
